Heated Seats

 I'm just thinking aloud here but has anyone tried one of these ? http://www.motocare.co.uk/home/12v-heat ... n?vmcchk=1

If they work it I've been wondering if it would be feasable to remove the existing seat cover, fit this to the seat and then re-fit the seat cover over the top. It would then be simple to do away with the cigar lighter plug and hard wire the heaters via an in-line fuse and a discreetly mounted switch.

My concern would be how safe and durable these things are. Or there's the expensive carbon "fibber" !? option from these blokes http://www.carfi.co.uk/html/heated_seats.html

I've fitted the carbon fibre versions to the back seats of a Volvo I used to have and they worked a treat. TBH I just did the wiring as I had to leave the actual fitting to a trimmer as there was no way of just sliding them into place. There were so many pleats created with hog rings it was beyond my DIY, also they needed holding in place. The seats on the Lotus don't look anywhere near as complicated though.

The end result was terrific as I love little gadgets and comfy options like this. I got mine from the USA for about £75 a pair and much more common as retrofits in cold states.

Yes, I would think those carbon fibre ones are probably the best option. The cheap option does seem a little too cheap to be good.
