I have seen a Esprit with a closed bottom... but I didn“t found it anymore... perhaps it was in the TLF?

I haven't looked, but I'd guess that the rear suspension arms would drop below floor level toward the outboard area on full droop so scope to make a full width completely flat floor is limited surely.

If one was designing a car from scratch it's possible with the use of large diameter wheels and high level hub centres to design suspension arms front AND rear that remain above floor level at full droop.

That's one of the few advantages of very large diameter wheels . Another is maybe the option to fit large diameter brake discs...but that just betrays the fact that the car must be FAR HEAVIER than necessary!

This has got me wondering if it would be possible and if so advantageous. Mark one of my mechanic mates has just given up his job at McDonald Racing to build Austin 7 based specials, as so he is a very good at panel working......

My initial concerns are the exhaust running the length of the car unlike the Esprit and thus would it be done in two sections or cover the exhaust, and managing the heat from it.............. which could be by having back facing vents to allow the hot air to be drawn out much like aircraft have.......but one major concern is how can you be sure you have invented ground effect and not lift?? ,mmmmmmmmmm muira springs to mind
