Fuel Cap Does Not Lock

As I work my way around "Miss Vivian" I'm discovering different things, the latest being that the fuel cap does not lock despite where ever I turn the key.

Is this a common problem and before I take the fuel cap to bits, is there any gotcha that I should be aware of before hand.

Cheers,

Mark

There is not a greater problem to be expected. Just take some pictures and demount the complete items and do some grease on it. Than put it all back again. Probably a new seal would be a good idea too

Either the outer barrel is worn so the "fingers" are not locking in place, or the spring-loaded fingers are sticking.

As Don says - disassembly is straight forward and any good locksmith can rebuild/refurb. it if necessary for a few pounds.

Just be careful with the internal "o" ring that stops fuel spilling out of the lock.
