I've had a gut full of this car, it's one thing after another,
now it's making a loud taping noise from what I think is the
top end of the engine, if anyone want's to buy this and put
me out of my misery then I'm open to offers,

It's had a new Coil, leads, ignition amp, distributor cap, I've cleaned out
the fuel tank, the carbies have been reconditioned with a eurocarb kit,
had a (second hand) new distributor, oil change, etc..

I'm sure these cars are good when there going well, but didn't really have a chance to find that out.

whats with this loud tapping noise? easy fix??

Any offers wecome.

Have you got the air box, air filter and air supply tube in place? If not you will get a heck of a lot of valve tap coming that way and it will sound that something has gone badly wrong.

A loud tapping noise might also be the brake servo vacuum non-return valve, which is cheap and easy to fix. Does it reduce when the engine speed increases?Where are you based? Might be possible for someone to come and take a look.

The tube's attached to the carbies are there, the oil pressure release from the engine is just flopping around belching out smoke tryed to make a box for it but it didn't work, the sound dosn't seem to change on rev increase/decrease, but it dose sound like something's gone badly wrong, on that point your right.

And if you want picture's send an e-mail address, but now I'm thinking I should really fix this just for the heck of it, although it seems to be breaking faster than I can fix it! I've learnt more about cars by owning this one that any other car!!

Cheers

If it's not engine speed related then I'd also go with Chris's guess of Servo non-return.

If you want to compare rattly engines I'll have a run down if you like and perhaps persuade you to keep it ? I live near Worksop.

I've got some pic's on this machine but don't know how to put them on this site,
If you send an e-mail I can do it.

And regards price I want to get my money back from it, but it dose need a new head
gasket now. So I will be less than a thousand.

Pete.
