"Lotus" letter badge - dimensions ?

Post by amarshall »

Those who have the later "Lotus" letters on the rear of the their cars (the cast versions to match the cast Excel badge) - could one of you let me know

a) are the letters cast in a single block, or individually ?
b) what height and width each one is
c) - if they're cast in a single block, what's the spacing between letters ?

please ?

I may have found a suitable replacement set to match my unused "Excel" badge and plan to see if I can cast some spares from them this weekend.

this will gonna be an awful job... :( the badge is overall and complete 3D an the letters are not symmetric... even the backplate is 3D with a smaller front plate than back plate...

pictures are on the way

Just to be really clear - I *don't* need any info. about the Excel badge as I have the last one from the factory sitting here. It's the "Lotus" letters that some cars have above the number plate or on the opposite side to the "Excel" badge that I need to know about.

Perfect! Thanks! I think I can adapt the letters that I have to produce a mould which will let me cast something like the "correct" version.

So do I... Still in its original wrapping too!

I'm waiting until my car is resprayed back to Calypso Red from Calypso Pink before fitting the badge at a lavish ceremony...

My car is also fitted with one of the "Lotus" badges just above the number plate. If you need any more info or dimensions Angus, just let me know.

Are they the individual chromed ones that bore a very strong resemblance to the contemporary script lettering on Rover cars?
