door speaker covers for 1987 excel se / sa

i´m searching an original set of door speakers, incl. mesh covers for a 1987 excel se / sa

or mesh covers only

On my 87 SE the door speakers have a flat "pepper pot" style front which is part of an all in one unit which goes through the door card and is secured behind by a large ring which threads onto the outside of the unit. Originals will be blown by now.

What I did was to remove the original unit, cut everything off except about 5mm of threaded tube and match them up with modern speakers. Very difficult to do and no room for error with the drill. I was able to keep the original fronts with the addition of four black screws - three of the screws are on the front and one is on the door card right next to the front but not obvious unless you look closely - not ideal but doesn't look too bad. Will post a picture if I get chance.

In hindsight - Probably better to go for modern speakers and fronts.

for me even damaged speakers would be ok...i´m only after the car being visual original.....as i dont need a working radio /sound system

hi and thank you for the offer, but my excel is a later one form 1987...so i guess the design is different?

to clarify: for me the imprtant thing is the authentic look...the speakers themselves could be damaged.
