TBH - and this is just my personal opinion of course - IF the chassis is not bent and the engine is healthy ( you MUST do the cam belt tho ) :D .............

..........then see what u can get it for............i do not think you will loose on these any more - look at it as a fun car to try and get to original great condition as and when time and money allow. but a daily driver yes.
best of luck. take the cash with you - im sure he wont turn u away - have a barter.
best regards.
DC.

The one on Ebay needs a door beam (ad suggests welding it :( ) If you get chance check the condition of the window frames, they will be hardest part of your project to source.

yes..open both doors and try to move top of frame back and forth, I think there should be very little movement, also try to lift doors up and down at handle end to see for hinge or beam wear etc.

I sense excitement is building Les!

unless you are able to do all the work (mechanical, electrical, interior and paint) may i suggest that your sight.s to the region of 5-6k, you will spend much more than that on a project and take much of your time working on the car. in today's money these cars cost 60k + and cannot be maintained or restored for mini money. the talents of fuzz townsend or ed china and lots of time are needed for a home restoration. :( :( :( :(
the car that started this thread is worth the asking price or very close to it, after all it can be driven on the road now.

Agree its worth the money, I'm just hoping to spend less on the car knowing ill
Rebuild much of it anyway. I've rebuilt cars and built
A track car from scratch, so don't mind a long term project!!
I'm thinking it will end up taking me a few years to finish.
A few have gone on ebay for around £1500 in the last few weeks,
Which is what I'm hoping to pay.....
