Post by Radar »

I put the Excel through its' paces on Saturday on the Curborough Sprint Track in Satffs. Great fun! Excel did us proud, over 40 laps and never missed a beat...

Looks like you were doing it in the reverse direction of what I thought was the normal way around?

When I've done it in the Clan we went start - paddock - woodside -molehill - hairpin -straight.

Looks like you went start - paddock - straight - hairpin - molehill- woodside - paddock.

But then you can chop and change to make it interesting!

I found 'molehill' the most challenging followed by keeping it wide into the hairpin so you carry speed on to the straight!

All good fun and heart-stopping on the limit - like keeping your foot-in on paddock through to woodside - which you have to do in a rear engine car or it'll oversteer and spin. 8)

Excel must have felt awesome on the tight narrow circuit with it's inherently-precise turn-in? 8)

How much was your trackday? - iIt used to be a reasonable £50 for the day for Imp Club meetings.

They mixed things up a bit as the top loop can now be done as a figure of 8.

They have four patterns you can use A, B, C and D

A was basically driving around the outer bit of the track.

B was a figure of 8 where you crossed the track and wound up doing the top loop anti-clockwise

C I didn't do that pattern so I am not sure what it was

D Lap of the outer perimeter, then a figure of 8, then another perimeter lap to finish things off

It was £35 for the day through the Carlton Motor Club

I did 14 three lap sessions or thereabouts

£35! Fantastic value!

LotusExcel.net should maybe think about a day out there! (but not on a SUNDAY! :) )

I have already been invited to 2017 event, they are looking to sell more slots, so people from here could be ideal

It wasn't timed, so you can run anything, my friend went around in his V8 auto Stag, did more than ok!
