The ribbed plastic surround on mine both sides has a gap between it and fibre glass back,I took drivers side glass out and had a look it was located into metal frame work that motors bolt on to ,I cannot see why there is a gap as its seems to correctly located,I do not want to dive in and cut taps on ribbed bit without information on this,the gap just lets elements get in and cause bad connection,s etc,please help,ps need new mirror control switch which are like hens teeth,only ones I have seen are not worth the expense

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but you may want to look at the info on the Lotus Esprit World site http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EGuides ... irror.html where they have a good write up about the wing mirrors, with lots of pictures. These Esprit mirrors are the same as on the later Excels, like yours.
