I used a two-fingered pulling tool that hooks round the back of the pulley. Tightening the centre bolt of the tool then pulls the crank pulley off. I got mine from a local car accessory shop. I think Halfords normally stock them as well. It's a fiddly job because the pulley is low down and close to the oil cooler. The bolts holding the cooler on are usually quite rusty, but you should be able to do it without disturbing the oil cooler. Skeggy's website http://www.benani.com/ has a 'how to' if you don't have it already.
Hi Phil, you're welcome. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, as first time round is always dealing a bit with the unknown. PM me for my number if you would like to discuss anything. Cheers. Chris
Chris - got the puller this morning but it is the wrong size
Got to take it back tomorrow. The one I got was 75mm and the pulley is 110mm. Its been raining on and off all day so I couldn't get outside to do it anyway. The wife wasted no time to take the opportunity to get me decorating
Oops! I didn't know they made pullers that small. Once the pulley is off it should be fairly straightforward to swap the belts. The distributor pulley is the one to watch, as it can move quite easily, so an alignment mark is very useful. Is your tensioner the eccentric roller type one? Replacing the bearing at the same time as the belt is a good idea - the old bearing can be pressed off in a vice, you just need to remember which way round it tightens when you re-install it.
