Condenser (?) on Fuel pump

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

Condenser (?) on Fuel pump

Post by Wingnut »

Just got a lovely new fuel pump from Lotusbits with electronic points as my old pump was getting a bit tempremental (Thanks Dave!)

The old pump had what looks like a condenser wired between the + and the body of the pump. Anyone know what it is, what it is for and if I need to attach it to the new pump? There is no reference to it in the serivce notes or in the wiring diagram.

Cheers!

Also, anyone know if it matters how you mount it? The old one was horizontal with a bracket around it, but the way the inlet and outlet are on the new one it fits better vertically with the inlet and outlet at the bottom.

I asked this question before, here: http://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtop ... =a&start=0
It's to prevent (radio) interference. Made no difference to my car on or off (think it's on at the moment).
tonypoll says in the above link that "with the electronic kit there is no 'spark' at the points, so no need for a suppressor" which sounds right.

Cheers Hodders! Can't beleive I missed that as it was that thread that led me to order the complete pump from Lotusbits rather than just the electronic points kit from Burlen

Anybody confirm it is OK to fit the pump vertically?
