It is/was a Celebration - even the paint code is correct. Don't know what it hit but the damage to the left rear wheel looks bad.

Is Rob just asking if it is a Celebration (which it clearly appears to be)... or whether it was the known car of a member on here?

Yep. MUCH worse than just a kerb clip like wot I did !
Maybe someone finding out the difference between "Lotus handling" and "high grip levels" ...the former needing driver skill input the other needing just balls and bravado!
I completed the course - a self taught one, but never-the-less it still harmed the wallet!
The Celebration still looks good mind you -even in that smashed up state.

Must admit, I wondered about that! That light-coloured rim always makes the interior look extra special. I think the Celebration has much better quality headlining too (leather, if I recall).

Do they really all have leather headlinings? I'll pay more attention next time I see one
I am an EX owner; I have ceased to be

The headlining on mine has been renewed with a suede type material, looks damn smart IMHO.Simpatico wrote:Do they really all have leather headlinings? I'll pay more attention next time I see one
I wouldnt be suprised if it originally had a leather headlining, Lotus has put leather everywhere ( virtually) Im only suprised they didnt cover the body work with leather too...

As I recall.... but my recollection isn't what it was! Could be very nice vinyl, but the couple I've seen the inside of seemed to have something better than the usual 'Brentford nylon'...

My headlining is original, and it is fabric, not leather.

Does it have a kind of ribbed or panelled effect to it though, Alan? I've a definite recollection of the Celebration headlining - or the couple I've seen anyway - being different to the 'standard' cars.

No, just smoothish fabric:

Sorry the picture is not very clear - a quickie on my mobile.
The flash has given a blueish tinge but is actually a light beige colour.

I think it's the Lotusbits style headlining which is causing confusion http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C403262

Re: Possible "celebration" model breaking on ebay?
Ah... yes - that's the one I've seen! Thanks, Kev.
Surely that's not the standard headlining that Lotusbits fit to any Excel though? If it is, I'd definitely have mine done by them!
