Hampshire Autumn meet up?

Post by shaunw »

Anyone fancy a get together before the end of October this year?

My enthusiasm for Lowie seems to have has diminished somewhat over the last couple of months so I could do with a bit of comradery to try and get it back before I embark on the next round of work

I'm free on:

Sat 1st Oct
Sun 9th Oct
Sun 16th Oct
Sun 30th Oct

Regards
Shaun

Hi Shaun,
Soonds like a good plan to me. I've not joined you before but I've been waiting for a suitable opportunity. However, the only dates I can do (due to holidays and my daughter's wedding!) are Sunday 9th and Sun 30th.

A suggestion !
On the second Sunday of each month, the 9th October is the next, an informal classic car meet is organised by the Bishops Waltham Round Table and meet at the Waltham Chase village hall, midway between Bishops Waltham and Wickham on the B2177. The meeting is rain dependent as the cars are a wide and varied selection of which the owners tend to bring only if the weather is kind.
The meeting is hosted by the village hall who fund raise by offering anything from a coffee to a cooked breakfast the cafe opens around 9.30 am cars drift in and out from around ten and everyone tends to have departed by around midday. Very laid back atmosphere but there are or have been many cars of interest and at each meeting not all of the cars have been before.

I really don't mind, but if 5 Lotus Excels turn up, is that what they want? Regards, Martin.

Sounds like a good venue to meet up and we can always go somwhere afterwards if we want to. I presume from what you say that no booking is required.

Good thought about all of us turning up so have just emailed the organiser to run it by him about how many Excels might arrive, am sure Pete won't mind, we might outnumber the MGB's
Regards

The best way to get to the venue for those from the west is along the A272 and turn rt at the West Meon down the A32 to Wickham and back to Waltham Chase a good run on a Sunday Morning BUT keep to speed limits in villages as a very hot radar trap area.

Just had a reply from organiser, we are welcome, there is no entry fee, contribution to Round Table funds is appreciated, the village hall car park is limited so may have to park on verge dependent on numbers. "The Black Dog" pub is just a couple of minutes down the road towards Wickham has a large car park and serves bar meals along with a restaurant.

"Curve Ball" This Saturday at Thruxton is a classic car racing day not very well promoted and next Saturday 1st October is the Castle Combe Autumn Classic.

Location is fine with me. I am on holiday in Norfolk with the Excel from 1st to 7th Oct and have a full days work on 8th. Car will no doubt be filthy when I get back. If I can find time to get the car cleaned up a bit then I will join you.

I would suggest not earlier than 9.30am when the hall canteen facilities open, people and cars start to turn up between 9.30 and 10 am and continue to arrive through morning as others leave all tends to wind up by noon. All very informal, each month has seen a different variety of classic cars; there is no charge although a contribution to rotary club funds is always appreciated; the village hall car park is not huge so may find that have to park on the verge outside the hall.
As mentioned before if coming via A272 and or A32 be very wary through villages as the police are very hot with their mobile speed cameras. The road is very popular with the biker fraternity take a look in "Loonies" cafe at junction of A32 and A272 "West Meon Hut" .
