Insurance

Post by Ian H »

Spring is here; I can tell that because the snow is so deep I cannot even open the garage doors! Assuming it thaws out by the beginning of April the Excel will be back on the road. My Insurance from Lancaster has increased considerably and when I phoned to check the details with them and was left in their "your call is import to us" twilight zone for so long I gave waiting.

Could anyone recommend a good alterative?

Thanks

Ian

SP50? On a motorway? Maybe you were you doing 50 in reverse.

Yeh, wierd isn't it .. but SP50 is the offence code for speeding on a motorway!

94.69mph and 92mph respectively, ironically both in diesel commuting cars!

Try Footman James & mention you're in Club Lotus. When I try my annual
trawl of companies they always come out cheapest. Some companies are honest enough to admit they can't compete with Footman on price.

Good Luck, Andrew

Interesting.

I've researched the codes, thinking my SP60 collection had something to do with breaking a 60 limit, although thinking back it was for 90 something on dual carriageway, which is a 70 limit.

SP60 is an 'Undefined speed limit offence'. Why can't they define it then? It was on a dual carriageway. Does that bump my premium more than an SP50, which applies to the same speed limit? The word 'undefined' sounds
predudicial.

On the discussion regarding insurance, who would be best to offer cover for a supercharged Excel with mods everywhere?

I'm a Club Lotus member and Footman James' premium request increased significantly after my first year of cover...........

When I got my Footman James renewal, I did a bit of shopping around & came up with a cheaper quote at Richarson Hosken. FJ were quite happy to price match by conjuring up a 'loyalty discount' & it was more trouble than it was worth to move, but it always pays to shop around especially as all of us have different postcodes & professions.

Interesting what Vince says about Hagerty though - new players in the market are invariably cheaper.

Had a pleasant surprise when the renewal came this mornng. Not only did the premium go DOWN but as the old girl is now over 20 years old , Footman James say there is no need to limit mileage and so I now get unlimited mileage for the same price.

Oz,

A ripe old 46.

You're onto a bit of a loser for another 2 years I think. Most Classic Insurers think you're a boy racer till you're 25.

Good luck with your search, Andrew
