Window frame repair

Post by KAB »

My 1989 Excel window frames are corroded, but I believe I might be able to save them.

a) Does anyone have an old window frame that they could let me have/sell me to use for repair sections
b) Is there anyone who has made a welded repair, if so how did it go.

I see in the forum that new made frames are available now and then. I suppose that would be the safest, but more expensive option.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Keith

Many have done repair sections, but it is tricky due to the 3 dimensional contour of the frame.

However, If both are gone, Angus has (had) discounted LH frames which if you bought that side you could play with the material from the old one to try a repair to the RH.

Edit - he's in doncaster!

Edit 2 - I cant weld so it might be really easy

Thanks for the reply.
I suppose I've got nothing to lose having a crack at welding, not to say that I am an expert welder by a long way. I might have to enlist someone with better eyesight and skill than myself.
Cheers

I have two drivers frames (the bolts that sit above the door latch have sheared off on both) FOC.

Many thanks for the advice and pointing to the technical article. Quite a fiddly job but worth having a go I believe.

Mr HC180, I would be very interested in the frames. Where are you located?

Thanks
