On our Facebook group, Brian Angus recently posted this fascinating account of cold chamber fuel injection testing on the Excel in the mid-80s:

Pictures from Excel testing. Fuel Injection testing in the Cold Chamber in the Mid 1980s. We managed to squeeze the Excel into the cold chamber with the Esprit Injection cold testing for USA.

In the discussion that followed, Mike Kimberley confirmed that economic conditions and commercial judgements made at the time prevented the progress of this project to a commercial conclusion.

Bosch K Jetronic by the looks of it. Pretty good system for it's time. Shame it came to nothing. Thanks for sharing Richard.
