Sorry guys, I should have said earlier, that red circle shows an area where I have already taken a bolt out, I just wanted to know is that the "starter motor" one that was being discussed? (There was actually two bolts there in close proximity). I really can't see any other bolts around the perimeter of the bellhousing - they have all been removed. Hence in the picture there is no bolts to see!
I have already put the jack under the 'box, and lifted and wobbled the engine a great deal, the two are still stuck together! I thought either rust had effected the clutch assembly, or the pegs where corroded.

OK then. While you have the engine raised, can you get a BF screwdriver/tyre lever in between the sump and the bellhousing from below? There's some good places down there for some serious levering. All the while taking good precautions against getting squashed by heavy objects.chris knowles wrote:I have already put the jack under the 'box, and lifted and wobbled the engine a great deal, the two are still stuck together! Or . . . what about now supporting the bellhousing and letting the engine down. Carefull, though - the input shaft is still sitting in the back of the crank.
If it will take the weight of the engine and still not separate, then some shock blows with a nylon hammer along the part line might be in order.
The bolt is screwed in from the gear box side below the line of the sump,if i remember corectly its a much smaller one than all the others. You wont get at it from above the car u need to be underneth{ ur photo is in the right area but further down on gearbox side}
If its still connected u will never get it to bits ,hammering in chisels/scewdriver will do some damage.
Haveing said that the center plate siezed on the splines will make it difficult to split

My chassis is in very good nick, with the exception of the rear section where the body mounts on, some of the galvanising has come off here leaving slightly brown metal beneath (!).
I was going to paint it silver, with all the suspension/steering parts to be painted black. I was going to start a thread on it nearer the time. I know you can get the chassis re-glaved as Spav has done, but there might be some distortion issues.
I am only painting the chassis as at the minute it is completely striped, so it is easier to work on in the future and looks a bit nicer. I don't intend to take the whole car apart like this again for many years!
