Hi,

I would like to change auxiliary relay because i think the contact is bad. Problem to start the engine.

I think to have found the same relay at autoelectricsupplies but there are two models :

Lucas 33RA SRB631 12V
or Lucas 33RA SRB600 12V

I hope my Excel will be ready to go at Le Mans Classic (Lotus Club of France stand)...
have you an idea?

You need the SRB600 version (black housing); the 631 (green housing) is for intermittent use only.

Hope you get to Le Mans!

I have just seen a photograph of the SRB600 - I don't think it will fit as the terminals seem to be screwfix type rather than push-in blades. The same applies to the SRB631

instead depending on the circuits to be switched.

(Lotus did uprate to 40A from 30A but I'm running a couple of 30A relays without problems - I just carry a few spares)

However, my experience is all on a 1990 Excel so I don't know if the relays on the earlier cars are the screw terminal type - can someone enlighten me ?

I believe my relays are also push fit type, on an '87, i have a couple of spares in a bag at home, will check after work.

I've just done what I should have done before - checked the parts manual.

The ignition and auxiliary relays are on a separate board in the footwell - the one that makes access to the inside of the indicator repeater difficult. They do seem to be similar to the SRB600 from the diagram.

The ignition and auxilliary relays are the two 'big' relays behind the driver's side kick panel (on my '89 MY): They are as you describe Angus - two spade connectors for the coil and two screw terminals for the powered circuits. They do not sit in relay holders, they have a small mounting bracket fixed to the relay itself, which fixes to the steel panel.
