Has anyone re-built the door check strap mechanism on their cars?
My door doesn't want to stay open on the slightest incline, reminds me of my old MGB!
I see springs and plates on SJs website, can this job be done easily, or am I going have to dismantle a lot of the cars door to get at the bits that may need changing?

Re: Door check strap
The check arm bolts to the hinge as you can see and if I remember correctly the arm slides around a bolt that bolts to the top of the door beam. If you can get to this bolt after taking the door card and front plastic cover off, it should be fairly easy. I did it when replacing the door beam so I had the door shell off the beam which is a lot more work. It may just be that the arm is too tight/seized on the hinge and not allowing the spring arm to have any effect. Worth a try first before removing bits of door.
