Handbrake moulded cover removal

Post by shaunw »

Can anybody tell me how this is removed? Is it just a case of forcing over the handbrake or does it have to be cut off? I'm thinking of putting an aluminium sleeve over the handbrake to match the ally gear and seat knobs I have on order from Lotusbits. However I want to be able to return the car to OEM if I ever feel the need.

Regards

Shaun

On my Elite it is welded on, yet on the Éclat slips off without fuss. I guess it all depends what glue Lotus where using that day!

As you can see the cover extends right down the lever, and appears tightly fitted. I think you would need to cut it off.

Gotcha. Parts manual shows the lever and cover as a single assembly so implies it's a not normally removable/replaceable part.

Many thanks Guys, that has put me off a bit. I'm sure what I have in mind would look great but I'm not keen on destroying something original that is perfectly servicable............... but then again, ally would look good......... aaaarrrghhhh

Get a second hand one as a replacement should you ever need it,then you can cut off the grip with no worries.
Cant see there being much demand for S/H ones so should be cheap enough.

Cheers, Terry.
