Lotus excel door lock rods

I love how they are colour coded,only one that's right colour on drivers side is brown all the rest have other colours and interesting repairs,including masking tape and bits of rubber glued to metal washers,this was start of nightmare metal ones ordered instead of plastic ones,trying to get door lock of door,latch ,had to remove inner and exterior handle then unscrew rods after removing bracket holding central locking rod and interior lock rod held by pin on same bracket,may as well now remove window frame,next diaster,door beam looks ok at hasp end,another 5 hours spent allready,another day to go maybe,the sunshine today and having an empty unit to work in was the trigger,unit was not empty for long garage delivered my elan +2 from pre mot inspection which was welcome but added to fun,what a lotus day but that's why you love them

Widow frame out not that bad rust round front bottom mounting below quarter window,will repair that section since it does not have window going up and down,beam looks ok ,only problem removing it was 2 rusty screws through door into frame,all other mounting bolts came out,some one must have had them removed before,some positives,just as well my time is free and that of other two helping me,now to try and get coloured rod clips or adapt others

SJ sold all the colour coded clips for the door rods.

I got right colour clip for interior handle,yellow,the plastic ring it fits through is about 3 times as thick as metal one on same handle,managed to get one with thicker collar on it,it had 12 marked on it possible it Toyota one,I was wondering if 1990 excel had other interior door handles fitted,the whole job has been a nightmare as I only wanted to change hasp on door,just got to adjust rods and try to get r clips on central locking bracket,door beam on way out but that's a summer job,as least I know all the fittings will come off,then tackle passenger side window frame same rot on front angle see if it's repairable or replace with new one ,never a dull moment

Central locking control brackets r clip hidden behind fibreglass ,either I took out all lock again,no way I just cut a small inspection panel to expose lock rod ,could then adjust lock rod to enable central locking to open /close,then easy to put r clip and washer back on,duck tape inspection panel back on and replace door card,
